Classic Leather Dog Collar

Our classic leather dog collars are individually hand cut from premium veg tanned leather sides, using traditional techniques and tools.

We only use Top Grain (also known as Full Grain) leather – This is the upper layer of a hide which is split into layers by a splitting machine to various thickness. This outer layer will show natural scars and haircell patterns if left as uncorrected natural grain. These are the best types of leather as they are the strongest and most durable and valuable layer of hide.

The collars are cut to size – width and holes cut for the hardware. Each size hole is also cut by hand.

Hardware selection is your choice of solid brass for the gold colour or a combination of nickel plated solid brass for the buckle and stainless steel (minimum grade 304) for the d-ring.

The collar is then dyed to your colour choice.

Once the dye has dried, it is then sealed. The hardware is set by hand with double cap rivets to match your hardware colour selection.

The edges are burnished (smoothed) and finally we add a leather conditioner to soften and protect the collar.

Please allow a few days for your collar to be prepared before we can send it as they take time to set the dye – especially lighter colours as they require more applications of the dye to ensure an even colour.

Leather is a natural product and while we use the absolute best sides available, slight blemishes are completely normal and add to to the beauty of the collar.

Some of our leather colours are blended in-house and are not off the shelf available.

Each leather dog collar is custom made in our Sydney studio.

Our leather collars have been featured in Australian Harper’s Bazaar and HOMELIFE magazines.
